Plainsboro Culture


Plainsboro Township is a town in Middlesex County in the south west of the state.  The 2000 census showed that Plainboro Township had a population of 20,215.  Plainsboro was incorporated as a township in 1919.


Plainsboro Education


Plainsboro and West Windsor are part of a combined school district.  There are four K-3 elementry schools, two 4-5 grade schools, two 6-8 grade middle schools, and two high schools.  In 2005 Community Middle School received first place at the national science olympiad competition.  The first place position was taken again in 2007.  West Windsor-Plainsboro was ranked #1 in the state of New Jersey by New Jersey Monthly magazine, and West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South was ranked #3.  Three of the district schools have been recognized by the blue ribbon schools program.
Near by Princeton offers many opportunities for higher education.  Once the children graduate from high school, they have many local options for higher learning.  The famous Princeton University, Princeton Theological Seminary, Westminster Choir College, and the Institute for Advanced Study.
There are also many options for the Adult that would like to continue their education.  For them, there is the Princeton Adult School, Thomas Edison State College, and YWCA.

Plainsboro History


The area of Plainsboro is in Middlesex County and borders Princeton.  The whole area of Plainsboro and Princeton have roots in the US beginings.  Princeton is the most historic town in New Jersey.  The famous college of New Jersey, which was later renamed Princeton University has brought many famous figures to the town.  Also the battle of Princeton added fame to the town.  Here, george Washington launched a surprise attack on Lord Cornwallis and his troops.  Princeton served for a short time as the capital of the US after the Revolution.  Some of the famous historic figures of the colonial era are: Aaron Burr, Jonathan Edwards Henry Lee, James Madison, and many others.

Princeton University was established in the 1700's and has made the town a famous place for much of the history of the US.

Plainsboro Recreation


Plainsboro offers many different types of recreation.  If you're in the mood for a round of golf, Plainsboro has courses in the town and in the near by surrounding towns.  Princeton has two course in town and many courses in near by cities, such as West Windsor and Princeton.  If golf isn't your game, there are countless other types of recreation such as park pools, tennis courts, and bicycle paths.  The city also has many recreation areas with public access.  A few of them are Barbara Boggs Sigmund Memorial Garden, Charles Rogers Wildlife Refuge, Herrontown Woods Arboretum, and Lake Carnegie.


Plainsboro Transportation


US Route 1 is a major transportation route through the township.
